Phase Worldwide – Walk for Nepal 2018, Ben Nevis

Andy Porter Charity Leave a Comment

This is our third film for Phase Worldwide and their patron Alex Staniforth, to help raise funds, commemorate the 2015 earthquake and promote the charity’s work in remote Nepalese communities. An intrepid and very fit two-person crew armed with our lightweight, 4K Sony FS5 kit and a drone all made it up a snowy Ben Nevis on a sunny Spring day.

Along the way they met and talked to some of the remarkable people who are dedicated to empowering communities and giving them the tools to encourage better healthcare, education and employment in one of the world’s most rugged and inaccessible places. The walk, to the top of Britain’s highest peak, tested the abilities of everyone, from novice walkers to seasoned mountain guides.

Camera operator Kate Harvest has filmed for broadcasters and production companies in more than 20 countries around the world. Her production partner on the shoot was the equally experienced and versatile Brian Barnes who packed the drone in his rucksack to capture unique shots of the summit.

Our storyboard artist and experienced Alpinist George Manley once again helped make sure that everyone made it safely up and down the mountain.

This was an appropriately international effort. As with previous films the footage was lovingly edited by Catalan mountain goat Jordi Vidal Oliveras and further polished by our Australian colourist and editor Alex Long. Veracity’s composer Richard Bodgers supplied the music theme with its truly epic, Highland feel.

Another brilliant team effort from everyone involved, overseen by Veracity Production Manager, Sarah and Producer, Andy.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you on behalf of PHASE to Kate and Brian for coming along on the day and to everyone at Veracity for the edit and putting another great film together. These films of the last three events are a fantastic memory of such special days as well as being incredibly useful pieces for us to use to promote the work of the charity and to help us raise more vital funds for Nepal.”
